16 Days till we Depart

Our luggage has left the building. Monday morning the Fed Ex driver arrived at our home to retrieve our luggage and ship it off to Fort Lauderdale. I will have to say she looked mildly shocked when we opened the door and she saw that she was not in fact retrieving packages but 11 suitcases. I have just confirmed on FedEx’s tracking sight that all our bags have arrived in Fort Lauderdale and are awaiting our arrival. Letting the luggage go, freed up my mind to finally start thinking about Christmas and the upcoming holiday season. We opted to not decorate our home this year so it feels a little weird around here. We didn’t want to put it up only to have to take it right down, or to face Christmas decorations upon our return in May. So there is no tree trimmed or stockings hung. But the girls did make gingerbread houses, we are burning our Christmas tree scented candles, and listening to lots of Christmas music on our Alexa. We finished up our Christmas shopping today. There are a few items left on the to-do list and housekeeping things to complete around here before we bid a sweet goodbye to Cayucos on Sunday. As we were driving home today on the 46 from Paso Robles we took great pause to admire the beautiful scenery of the rolling hills, now turning green here on the California coast. The sun was starting to set and reflected beautifully off the ocean. And then it occurred to us that for the next four months we will no longer see that view, from the land looking out. We will mostly be seeing the world from the ship looking in toward the land. It was an amazing realization and just another little pitter patter to our hearts of all the things we have in store for us in the coming months. Now it’s time for rest. The day was long, and busy, but extremely productive and we are one step closer to started this amazing journey. Hugs to you all and sweet dreams.
