June 24, 2022 Juneau Alaska

Another fabulous nights sleep. I love the gentle rocking and rolling of a cruise ship. It is the most relaxing and peace-filled nights sleep I have had in a long time. We set our clocks back an hour last night. So we are now one hour behind California. This morning Megan and I hit the gym first thing. Have to burn off the calories of the extra food we are eating, LOL!! I am making smart choices, watching what I am eating, and not overdoing it on the desserts. I have made some lifestyle changes since I last cruised and I am finding it easier than I thought to stick to them. Since we worked out, we can then go and reward ourselves but eating. haha. We had another lovely breakfast at the Pinnacle grill. Then it was back to the cabin to “work”. We measured every nook, cranny, shelf, counter and walls of our stateroom. We will take this information back to CA with us and use it to prepare for the 2023 world cruise. We like to make our cabin feel like home. We will decorate it, print up family photos, bring storage cubes, magnets and suction cups, etc… Every thing we need to make the cabin what we want it to be for the 128 day journey. After we had completed that task everyone went separate direction for the afternoon. Valerie and I attended an educational talk on Ancestral Memories. A history of the Alaskan people, their culture and their almost lost language. Then we went to coloring for adults, still working on the same pieces we had previously started. Then it was back to our room to prepare for our later excursion. We were blessed to take an extremely scenic helicopter ride over several glaciers and snowcapped mountains around the Juneau area. Then we landed on the Norris Glacier at a musher camp where the dogs are in training for summer. It was by far the coldest place we had been in a while. We were able to learn about the camp, how it’s run and how the dogs are trained there. Then we were allowed to hop into a dog sled and we were off to mush a team (assisted) of alaskan huskies around the camp. Fun for us and exercise for them. What an opportunity of a lifetime. It will be an experience I will never forget. Lastly, we loaded back into our helicopter and and headed back to the helipad in Juneau and back to the ship. Since we had missed our 5:30pm dinner seating we were able to request to be sat in our servers area as we have come to know and adore our dining room team. We didn’t get back to the room till about 9:00pm. We put a movie on the television and we were fast asleep. ( That’s why this entry comes to you a day late). Please enjoy this small collection of amazing photos we took throughout our excursion. They do not do the scenery justice, but I hope you find them as breathtaking as I did in the moment I was experiencing it.
